Meet The Team

We employ up to 20 full and part time staff at the Day Nursery. To work in childcare it is necessary to undergo rigorous assessment. In the case of City Gates, we look for staff who have a love and concern for children, are enthusiastic about working with them – and have a never-ending store of creative energy! The staff need to be able to laugh a lot with the children and the children with the staff!

We would like them to be qualified NNEB, NVQ Level 4, 3 or 2 in childcare when they join us, and while they are with us we also want them to undergo continuous training – just to ensure their skills are regularly updated.

Mel Gill is the Manager of the nursery. Mel was until recently Head of a Childrens Centre in Newham. She is just so natural with children, and has an attractive and infectious personality. Mel holds a Level 4 qualification in Childcare. She is a very good team leader and thrives on the work she does.

City Gates Day nursery has a Christian basis. We are part of the well known City Gates church and some of our staff are Christian people. All our staff are very committed to the jobs they do and the care they give to each child.
