Where is City Gates Day Nursery located? We are situated right in the heart of Ilford. Just off the High Road, pass McDonalds and just before Lynton House at Axon Place.

Can we visit to have a look around the Nursery? Yes, we strongly advise parents who are interested in their child attending the nursery to come and have a look around. Please call to make an appointment, visiting times are at 10am and 2pm Monday-Friday or alternatively you may visit on our next open day. Where can I get a registration form?
You can collect a registration form by visiting City Gates Day Nursery or alternatively you can download here once you’ve entered the required details save the document to your computer. Then please attach the completed form to an email addressed to annettebaidoo@citygates.org.uk with the subject heading containing Nursery Registration stating your child’s name.

Do you accept childcare vouchers?
Yes, we accept vouchers for 3-4 years however, if your child is 3 or 4 years after 31st August your vouchers won’t be valid until January the next year.

Do I have to pay a registration fee to enroll my child?
No, City Gates Day Nursery operates a one month deposit scheme please ask at reception for further information.

What options do I have to pay my child’s nursery fees?
Once you have paid a deposit of one months nursery fees you will be able to choose whether you’d like to pay weekly or monthly. Payments are due by 6PM on Friday each week or the day of the month you start your monthly payment plan.

If my child is absent do I still have to pay for the sessions they miss?
Yes, City Gates Day Nursery is not a day care centre therefore you have to pay for every session you have requested upon registration whether they attend or not in order to save their place at the Nursery.

What’s included in my nursery fees
Breakfast, Lunch, Tea and snacks. Baby nappies and formula/fresh milk.

What and how will my child be learning? As City Gates Day Nursery is a private sector caring for children from 3 months old to five we follow the EYFS syllabus this ensures:

• Children learn through play
• Providers work closely with parents
• You are kept up to date on your child’s progress
• The welfare, learning and all-round development of children with different
backgrounds and levels of ability, including those with special
educational needs and disabilities.

Is all your staff qualified to work with Children? Yes, all our staff including students on work experience and volunteers are employed on the basis that they have a valid CRB check and have the appropriate qualifications to work with children.

Do you prepare and cook your own meals? Yes, all our meals are prepared on the premises by our own nursery Chef fresh everyday using fruit and vegetables, keeping processed foods to a minimum. To preview the City Gates Day Nursery’s current 4 week rotation menu download here

My child has special dietary needs can this be catered for? Yes, whether your child is vegetarian, allergic to nuts or only eats Halal meat. All dietary needs can be catered for all we ask is that you clearly write this on your child’s registration form and in the welcome pack which will be given when your child starts their settle in period.

SETTLING IN PERIOD

What is the settling in period?
Settling in is the period where your child attends the nursery 2 weeks prior to their start date in order to get your child gradually use to a new surrounding. Each session is 1 hour and parents/guardians are required to be present at all sessions. All paperwork outstanding such as your child’s one month deposit and welcome pack including the Parent/Guardian and City Gates Day Nursery contract is also sorted within this period.

How much is the settling in period?
The settling in period is FREE of charge.

I’ve misplaced my child’s Welcome Pack where can I get another one?
You can collect another welcome pack at City Gates Day Nursery or alternatively you can download here.

OPENING TIMES

What time is the nursery open from?
7:30am – 6:30pm
We are closed on bank holidays and one week during the Christmas period.

What time is the morning session?
7:30am – 1pm

What time is the afternoon session?
1:30pm – 6:30pm

SESSIONS AND EXTRA CHARGES

What’s the minimum amount of sessions my child can do a week?
Two sessions a week are required.

If I want my child to attend the morning sessions but I want to collect them after 1PM how much will I have to pay?

As we charge per a session if you want to collect your child after 1PM you will need to register for daily care. If you are running late you will have to pay the late collection fee and if lateness regularly occurs your child may be at risk of loosing their place at the nursery. Please call ahead and inform your child’s room leader if you are running late.

50p a minute from 6:33PM
£1 a minute from 6:50PM
£2.50 a minute from 7PM

This will pay for any additional operational costs to care for a child outside their normal nursery hours. Please note that the nursery is registered and insured for our opening times (7:30am-6:30pm) only and therefore dropping children off early and collecting the child late is done so at the parent/guardian’s own risk! MAIN GATE ENTRANCE

What time will the main gate (car entrance) be open for drop off / collection?
Morning: 7am – 9:00am
Afternoon: 12:45pm – 2pm
Evening: 5pm – 6:45pm

Please ensure you arrive on time as the main gate closes automatically!

Can I wait in my car/ park outside the main gate?
No, unfortunately you cannot wait in your car or park outside the main gate as you may be clamped and charged a parking fine of £125. However, you can park inside the Centreway car park FREE for 10-15 minutes providing your child has officially enrolled into the nursery. Please ask at reception for further information regarding a City Gates Day Nursery parking permit.

LEAVING THE NURSERY

How much notice do I need to give if I remove my child from the nursery? It is important to give as much notice as possible however, we require a minimum of one month notice.
